Search Engine Optimization (SEO) Intern (Dallas) – Summer 2019

As a Search Engine Optimization (SEO) intern in our Dallas office, you will learn about and work on the technical and content-based aspects of SEO to improve keyword rankings and user experience for our clients. You ideally enjoy gathering and analyzing information, executing tactical and content elements of SEO, and nerd out in tools like SEMRush, ScreamingFrog, and Moz.

What you’ll learn:

  • An understanding of technical and content-based SEO best practices

  • The basics of information architecture, search engine algorithms, and ranking factors

  • How to conduct on-site optimizations, including meta tags, site architecture, internal linking, schema, sitemaps, load speed, URL paths etc.

  • The best way to create custom reports for each client to best present the SEO work being done, as well as highlight insights and recommendations

  • The ability to recognize white hat vs. black hat tactics

  • How SEO works together with other digital marketing efforts, specifically digital advertising and conversion rate optimization (CRO)

  • How to work in a fast-paced environment, both independently and with a team

What you’ll get to do:

  • Conduct keyword research on behalf of a set of diverse clients

  • Conduct SEO audits for current and prospective clients

  • Learn how to optimize current content to increase rankings

  • Research and recommend on-site optimizations for client and internal sites

  • Utilize tools like SEMRush, ScreamingFrog, and/or MOZ to analyze client and Statwax internal website for areas of improvement

  • Dive into Google Analytics and Google Search Console to monitor site performance and report back to the team

  • Regularly compile data for client reports and updates

What we need from you:

  • A knowledge and passion for search engine optimization’s technical aspects

  • A drive to want to learn about the content-based aspects of SEO

  • A love for data problem solving, and a desire to learn how to apply those skills to derive insights

  • Ability to work independently on keyword research projects, or with a team when the need arises

  • Previous touchpoints with Google Analytics, Google Search Console, SEMRush, ScreamingFrog, backlink checker tools, and/or Moz

  • Preferred: Awareness of Google penalties/updates
